The following information was received from an interview with an employee from the OB-GYN Specialty Group, which is a part of the Northeast MO Health Council.
The OB-GYN Specialty Group is the largest and oldest obstetrics and gynecology office in the area. At the Specialty Group, two board-certified physicians as well as six nurses take pride in their number one philosophy: truth. On their website, the Specialty Group notes that services that once had to be done in a hospital can now be done in the comfort of their facility.
There are an array of services provided by the OB-GYN Specialty Group. For gynecology services, the OB-GYN Specialty Group offers yearly routine exams, multiple birth control options, robotic and laser surgery, endometrial ablations, as well as pelvic organ prolapses. For obstetrics, the Specialty Group offers prenatal care that includes education, fetal monitoring and ultrasounds. Other services include birthing and after care which includes family planning and check ups. For infertility services, the Specialty Group offers blood tests, hormone tests, semen analysis, endometrial biopsies, laparoscopies, artificial insemination and ovulation induction. For women’s health, the Specialty Group offers mammograms, solutions for urinary incontinence and regular bone density exams.
The OB-GYN Specialty Group is a federally qualified healthcare center. Discounts for services are based on a variety of factors like income and insurance. Discounts are offered on a sliding scale, depending on every individual’s need (Ex: Slide one, slide two, slide three, etc). The more income a family receives, the more they will need to pay. The OB-GYN Specialty Group cannot say they can’t see someone. For example, if you are pregnant and without insurance, you can enroll for temporary Medicaid that lasts for 30 days. If a patient has insurance, the insurance will be filed and then the slide scale would be applied for the remaining balance.
At the time of service, at least $25 must be collected. There is some flexibility when it comes to payment options for patients. Some options include budget billing, as well as a direct deposit every month. Because the Specialty Groups wants to help their patients as best they can, patients will be asked what the best pay off length for them is.
The OB-GYN Specialty Group even has multiple resources for non-English speakers. There is a hired translator on site for many of the French speakers in the Kirksville area. If the translator is not available, they have a translation phone available which works for any language.
Based off of the information recieved, the OB-GYN Specialty Group is a realistic option for people from all walks off life.
